The freshmen girls met up with the
Sylvania Southview Cougars for the second time this
year looking for revenge from the 2 point OT loss
the girls suffered at their first meeting.
Both teams started out with full court pressure with
the Cougars falling back into a 2-3 zone and the
jackets playing man to man. Both teams pressure
defense caused a couple of fouls to start out with
the Cougars making their foul shots and the jackets
struggling at the line so at the 4:00 mark Cougars
were up 4-0. But then the jackets turned up the heat
with Lindsey making a turnaround jumper underneath,
and Katie hitting 2 3 pointers to end the quarter
Jackets 8 Cougars 6.
The jackets continued their full court pressure at
the start of the second quarter while the Cougars
played half court man to man. The jackets heat
continued from the end of the first quarter as
Chloe, Molly and Katie added to the score within the
first minute of the second quarter. After that
things slowed down a little which seemed to bring on
a series of turnovers from both teams. Add in 1
score from the Cougars and 2 from the jackets and
the quarter ended Jackets up 21 to 8.
The third quarter was much of the same as the
Jackets had 4 scores in the first 3 minutes and a
last minute jumper from Poll to end the quarter
jackets 32 Cougars 8.
The jackets defense was looking very impressive as
the Cougars were being held to only one shot on
offense. This held true in the fourth quarter as the
jackets received scores from Molly, Lindsey and a
couple from Shelby compared to one from the cougars.
When the buzzer sounded the 42 to 10 score was sweet
revenge and another NLL win.
Next game is Saturday (home)
