The freshman girls playing for the
first time during the holiday break and playing
Fremont Ross for the first time did not know what to
expect from the school district an hour to the west.
Things did not look good when we were ready to start
and there were not referees. We were all getting
nervous when it was getting close to 5pm and still
no ref’s, much longer and the game would have to be
cancelled to not interfere with the JV and Varsity
games.
A referee showed up a 5:05pm and we are off and
running with Smith tipping to Whitacre for 2. After
that there were a series of Fremont turnovers
leading to Jacket scores. At this point it was very
and I mean very obvious that the Fremont Ross team
was less developed than our Jackets. At the end of
the quarter Perrysburg was up 15-0 and Fremont maybe
had two opportunities at their end of the court.
The second and third quarters were much of the same
with Perrysburg leading after 2 quarters 23-4, and
at the end of 3 quarters Perrysburg 35 Fremont 6
I can’t say much about the fourth quarter except it
was much of the same, my hats off to the Fremont
girls they hung in there and kept trying. It was
good to see all our girls getting some playing time
to end the game with a final score of Perrysburg 50
