With three games in
less than a week, Perrysburg did not have much time
to worry about their recent loss to Southview and
the matter at hand was to get focused and beat St.
Ursula. With the opening whistle, Perrysburg hustled
after every loss ball and pressured St. Ursula
causing them to take bad shots and turn the ball
over. Mollie Whitacre got the Freshman girls on the
board first with a nice layup and then Syndney
Scheckelhoff also scored on a nice pass inside to
make the score 4-0. Perrysburg utilized their
quickness by trapping St. Ursula and causing errant
passes. The girls capitalized by scoring two more
baskets giving Perrysburg an 8-2 lead after the
first quarter. Amanda Poll got Perrysburg rolling in
the second quarter with a free throw after an
aggressive move to the basket and then Perrysburg
had three offensive rebounds with Lindsay Smith
finally getting a basket to extend the lead to 11-2.
Katie Dunphy had a nice jumper from the wing and
Maddy Perry getting a nice basket down low giving
Perrysburg a 13-6 lead at the half. More scoring was
on tap for the second half with transition baskets
made by Mollie, and two from Amanda Poll extending
Perrysburg’s lead to 23-12 after three quarters.
Perrysburg used their quickness to press St. Ursula
causing many turnovers resulting in easy baskets and
a 29-18 Perrysburg win.
