The freshman girls looked very
impressive for their first game in the big leagues.
You could see the nerves in the first quarter and at
times during the game producing some mistakes, but
all in all they looked pretty good. I do have to say
that there was a noticeable improvement from last
year to this year, good job girls on your hard work
throughout the summer.
The girls needed some enlightening
from coach Derr about the rivalry that Perrysburg
has with Northview which must have worked since the
girls scored the first 2 points and never looked
back for an 18-9 victory.
The jackets started the game with
a bucket by Scheckelhoff from the opening tipoff
from Smith. From there the jackets played good
defense and a very patience offense. Buehler and
Smith added a couple of buckets to end the quarter
up 8 to 5.
The jackets started the second
quarter with a bucket from Poll after that the
nerves must have set in for both teams as they had
numerous turnovers on both ends of the court. This
went on till Scheckelhoff hit a bucket with a minute
left in the half. The jackets defense held the
wildcats scoreless to end the half up 12 to 5
Both teams started the second half
in a 2-3 zone which produced some confusion at first
but after awhile the jackets settled down and Dumpy
hit for an easy 2. Northview responded with 4 points
themselves to end the quarter 16-9 Perrysburg.
Both teams started the 4th quarter
with man to man defense which caused little
offensive scoring. With 3 minutes left in the game
Perry scored off the inbounds pass. The pressure
defense caused some missed shots and turnovers to
but did hold Northview scoreless again to end the
game Perrysburg 18 Northview 9.
